Technical support

The technology behind drones, payloads and peripherals is developing at a lightning speed. As a result, the complexity of the equipment and the amount of data are also increasing. Vortex Technology Services closely follows the latest developments and offers you honest and transparent advice on the technical challenges of your equipment. Do you have questions about the operation of a particular sensor? Are you on location and the flight cannot be started for technical reasons? Does your fleet need to be updated with the latest firmware? Vortex Technology Services offers technical support remotely or at your location.

Technical assessment

In order to deploy your drone for high-risk operations, it may be required to have a third-party technical inspection performed. A technical inspection includes, among other things:

- Completeness and conformity of the (technical) documentation

- Checking of cabling, modules and payloads

- Testing of flight performance, functions and failsafes

- A flight test

Vortex Technology Services will take care of this entire process for you and ensure that it is completed quickly. This allows you to continue to focus on your activities and limits the use of your own staff.

Technical analysis

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles use a multitude of sensors in order to perform a flight properly. Because the operator is not on board the aircraft itself, it is essential that the user can rely on the sensors. Gyroscopes, accelerometers, barometers, transmitters, receivers, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) systems and compasses are just a limited list of the number of sensors. The operation or stabilisation of various payloads in many cases also uses data from the aircraft to function correctly. Thus, it is also very important to understand the data, and to ensure that errors or deviations in the system are detected in a timely manner.

Vortex Technology Services is a specialist in the field of technical data collected from unmanned aircraft and/or payloads and provides the technical analysis. We also provide reports for complete processing of your request and, if desired, we can make an independent report following an incident or crash. This way you know exactly what happened and how this can be prevented in the future.

Technical advice

Rapid technological developments in the field of drones, payloads, software and peripherals can make it difficult to make the right choices. Through our years of experience in the technical field, we advise you on the possibilities and limitations of the equipment.

We will work with you to find out the specifications and requirements you have for the product and give you independent advice. This allows you to work with confidence.

Integration

Drones provide a dynamic platform to acquire data from sensors (payload) in hard to reach places. In many cases this is an RGB camera but the spectrum of other sensors/payload is growing rapidly. For example, daily use includes:

- Infrared

- LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging)

- Gas detectors

- Multispectral sensors

- Hyperspectral sensors

- Illuminance

- Audio systems

- Delivery systems (delivery, food, emergency)

- 4G and 5G systems

- Safety systems (parachutes, etc.)

The demand for better, faster and newer sensors for use with drones is increasing. This also increases the complexity of data and integration with the drone. This is because you are often working with equipment from different manufacturers at the same time, each with their own protocols and language. To ensure that your data is collected safely and correctly, it is important that the various modules communicate and collaborate well with each other.

Vortex Technology Services guides you through the entire process using our years of experience and expertise. We look at the technical and operational challenges and ensure a flawless integration with your equipment.

We are familiar with the latest techniques and innovations from leading manufacturers and look for the best options for integrating sensors with your equipment. We look at, among other things:

- Mass and balance of the aircraft

- Possibilities with regard to operation of the sensor

- Data processing (on-board and post-processing)

- Integration of hard- and software

- Exclusion of interference between different components and modules

- Performing ground and flight tests including reporting
